Today is the first full day of General Assembly sessions. Most of the advisory committees have finished their work, and today the agenda really got rollling. We heard reports from our three permanent committees - Home Missions, Foreign Missions and Christian Education. Home Missions and Church Extension is responsible for the church planting efforts throughout North America, and ministries related to that work. Foreign Missions, obviously, has to do with spreading the good news of Christ around the world. Christian Education deals with a variety of ministries, including the OPC website, New Horizons, and MTIOPC. One of the projects of the Christian Ed Committee is the development of a new OPC Psalter-Hymnal. About half of the Psalms are done, and 200 hymns have been tentatively chosen. They hope to have the project completed and the P-H's printed by 2015, though it can be slow work at times. This afternoon we will be hearing from our OPC Historian, Mr. John Muether. One item to note: The Committee on Levity announced that they will hold a dinnertime gathering under a bridge on the campus of Trinity Christian College. Rev. John Ferguson of London, Ontario will be speaking on "Joke Telling in the Canadian Tradition." Sounds stimulating!!!
