A man preaching the Gospel of God’s sovereign grace in Christ was presented with this response: “The message you preach makes God a monster.” To which he was answered: “Then you’d better get ready to do business with a Monster.” What this preacher told this man is right. Accepting the man’s own premise, whether God is a monster to you or not, you will do business with Him in the matter of your sin. In dealing with our sin, He calls in mercy – “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool (Isaiah 1:18).” Come to Christ for mercy! Heed His gracious call or perish! The Spirit and the bride say come!
