Weekly Bulletin

All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts. Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth. Psalm 119:86-88

PASTOR’S NOTE
Lord willing, I will be preaching in a New Year’s Eve Service at the Wheelersburg Grace Church, Wheelersburg, Ohio on Thursday. Charles Pennington is the pastor, service will begin at 7:00. There will be no Wednesday service here this week.

BELIEVE ON CHRIST
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36).

If you believe on Christ, you may be confident that your sins are forgiven by his blood and that God looks upon you as being perfectly righteous. He has promised to save all who trust His dear Son. Indeed, if you now trust the Son of God, it is because you are already born of God and have everlasting life. Pastor Donnie Bell

THE SIMPLICITY THAT IS IN CHRIST

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2Cor. 11:3).

Do not hastily pass away from this view, of the simplicity that is in CHRIST! The Serpent beguiled Eve by his subtlety, in doing what? Even in seducing her to believe, that the simple act of faith, of believing in GOD, and depending wholly upon Him, was too simple to give credit to; and, likening to his devilish, devices, she fell.

And what is the artifice of the Arch-fiend now? To tempt men to swerve from the simplicity that is in CHRIST, by supposing that CHRIST’S Person, work, righteousness, and blood shedding, are but procuring causes; and that our faith, sincerity, repentance, and the like, must be added, in order to render it effectual. And thus, the simplicity that is in CHRIST, the minds of some men are corrupted from the beautiful whole of CHRIST, in CHRIST, and from CHRIST, becomes mingled with creature-attainments. Robert Hawker 1753-1827

SIMPLICITY IN CHRIST
Satan's one goal is to corrupt the mind and turn the heart away from this singleness or simplicity of Christ. It matters not to him if it be law, morality, tradition, ceremony, or whatever (good or bad), just so as there is a rival for Christ's preeminence and his sufficiency. Christ plus anything in redemption is not the gospel of God's glory and grace (Col. 2:9, 10) but is another gospel (Gal. 1:6, 7). The foundation of great Reformation was the Scriptures alone, grace alone and Christ alone. Nothing needs to, or should he added to these (Rom. 5:1, 2; 2 Cor. 5:21). In Christ believers are perfectly justified and righteous before the Father. Pastor Henry T. Mahan

Proclaim the Glory!
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14).

The blessed vision before us, as we behold the glory of our Savior, is — “The glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” What glory we have before us, as we behold the glory of Christ by faith! It is…

· The Glory of His Wonderful Person — The God-Man (1 Timothy 2:5).

· The Glory of His Perfect Righteousness (Romans 5:19.

· The Glory of His Sin-atoning Sacrifice (2 Corinthians 5:21).

· The Glory of His Sovereign Dominion (Romans 14:9).

· The Glory of Tender, Sympathizing Humanity (Hebrews 2:16-18).

· The Glory of His Heavenly Intercession (1 John 2:1-2).

· The Glory of His Persevering Love (John 13:1).

· The Glory of His Final Triumph (Revelation 19:1-6). Pastor Don Fortner

COMPLETE RESTORATION IN CHRIST
They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away (Psalm 69:4).

This Psalm, along with Psalm 22, declares unto us the agonies and soul suffering of the cross of Christ (Isa. 53:10), the redemption that was accomplished at Calvary (Heb.9:12), and the glory that followed (Heb. 1:3). In this verse our Lord declared, "I restored that which I took not away."

In Christ and through His redemptive work He restored unto His people all that Adam had lost in the fall and ruin of all and much more (Rom. 5:20-21). Adam lost the way, truth, and life unto God; Christ Jesus restored unto His sheep, the way, truth and the life (John 14:6). Christ Jesus satisfied divine justice, which He had never offended (Isa. 42:21). He fulfilled the law for us and bore the penalty (Gal. 3:13), which He had never broken (Heb. 7:26). He made complete atonement for sin for which He had never committed (Heb. 2:17; 1Peter 3:18). Christ Jesus also brought in everlasting righteousness for His church, which He had not taken away (Dan. 9:24; 2Cor. 5:21). He gave us a far better inheritance than that which was lost in Adam (I Peter 1:4; Rom. 8:17). Isn't this complete restoration (1Thes.5:23), complete reconciliation (2Cor. 5:18-20) and complete redemption (Eph. 1:7) in the Lord Jesus Christ? Pastor Tom Harding
