If I view the natural creation as a picture of the spiritual, and the old work as it pictures the new, I begin to get a glimpse of the glory bestowed on men. Here are three things in the forming of the old man that pictures that new man in Christ.

1. When God breathed life into the nostrils of the first Adam he brought him to the realization of a finished work. Everything his body, soul, and spirit could desire was already in place.
2. When Adam’s eyes were opened he stepped into an enlightened kingdom. He did not feel his way around in the darkness but walked in the light God already set by his decree in the heavens.
3. When God brought forth Adam he bore in his very being, by an inheritance ordained of God, the very image of God. The loss of Adam in the garden was not the paradise he lived in but the name and character of God in his being.

But in Christ, that glorious name, is once again manifested and raised to a new level. Manifesting not just the holiness and righteousness of God but putting on display the glory of His mercy and grace. Believing in Christ the new creature, in Christ, is given the nature and character of God he lost in Adam. He is made meet to be partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light.
