Mexico City Update

Dear Praying Friends,

Last week was an exciting time with several souls saved. We have had the most success in getting into the homes of those who came on Kid's Day. On Wednesday of last week, we went to Gabriela's, a lady that was saved on Kid's Day, and we could tell that she was saved and excited about her salvation. We talked to Alfredo about what we had preached that day and he was amazed that salvation was by only trusting in Christ and he accepted the Lord. On Thursday, we began our first missions conference ever. One of the missionaries spoke to a mechanic in his shop and the man asked that the pastor come by. The next day we went to his shop and he was asking if the Bible really speaks of hell and, of course, I showed him many verses and he also was excited to find out that salvation was only by faith alone and accepted Christ.

Genaro, who just started attending our church three weeks ago, has a friend named Guillermo who had been asking him and Geraldo, Genaro's dad, how to be saved. I told him to bring him to the missions conference and we'd tell him. He came out, trusted Christ, and came the next night, Sunday morning, and last night. I had wanted to talk to him about baptism and last night announced that this Sunday we were going to have baptisms. After church, he asked to be baptized. At least five adults will be baptized--all having recently asked me without me prompting them to be baptized. Also, four men last week came to Geraldo's house asking how to be saved and Genaro led them to the Lord. This is the closest thing to revival that I have ever seen.

Our missions conference was a success as we were able to take on all four missionaries for 50 dollars a month. They are all Mexican missionaries who have started works here in Mexico with almost no support. We have a burden to see churches established here as this nation is still a great mission field in need of churches. We had another good Sunday last week with a solid attendance in spite of the swine flu scare. All though several stayed home because of President Calderon's personal appeal that people not attend services this Sunday, we had atleast three families come to church that came for the first time on Kid's Day to help make up the difference. Our Sunday night service was packed and we had one of the best Thursday night attendances last night. Praise God for His blessings!
