Galatians 1: 6: I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Which of you fathers would leave your children under the care of a pervert? Worse, which of you would bring in a pervert and watch as they used perversion with your children? Every time men say that Christ Jesus saves through the lie of the free-will, universal-atoning, abomination of depraved imaginations they charge my Sovereign Savior with the same corruption! The false teachers in Galatia claimed to be preaching Christ, they merely added one requirement of man. Yet, Paul called them perverts! Was Paul being too narrow? No, the Spirit of God moved Paul to declare that theirs was not even another gospel. Nor would the Spirit of Christ allow Paul to deny Christ in declaring that they were brethren. Though what the false prophets promoted amounted to the same lie from which God saved him, the Spirit prevented Paul from saying he now believed their message to be dung, but yet was converted under it. That would have been absolute hypocrisy to call their religion "not another gospel" but then to say the Lord converted him under it. No, as we read the word which Paul wrote while under the inspiration of the Spirit of God, Christ has given us an example of the faithful messengers Christ yet gives today. The LORD does not leave his body to the tail of the dragon. Ephesians 5:29: For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church. Therefore, in Paul we see a faithful shepherd given by Christ which knew that the glory for sending the truth of the gospel, the glory in giving his messengers, the glory in filling all in all, belongs to Christ Jesus the Lord who is now sending forth his gospel in our midst executing judgment and justice in truth as truly as he did when he laid down his life at Calvary. Through the sovereign, irresistable grace of Christ working within him Paul was filled with a love for God and a love for his people that exceeded any reproach he might bear from those too cowardly to stand for the Savior who endured shame and suffering on his behalf. So by the power of the Spirit of Truth, instead of putting himself in leagues with anti-christ, Paul stood for the glorious name of him whose blood is precious and wrote with unmistakable clarity, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed (Galatians 1: 8-9) May our reigning King be pleased to give us more like Paul and save us from this untoward generation of perverts!
