COMMUNISM IS STILL ALIVE AND KICKING BUT WHAT ABOUT CHRISTIANITY?
By C.R. Curtman
“Christians know there is a battle going on all over the world which in the final analysis is a struggle for men’s hearts, minds and souls…Their aim is a Christian World…Christianity becomes the dominant thing in the life of the Christian. It becomes something to which he gives himself completely.” —Douglas Hyde
The above quote has been intentionally misquoted. What Douglas Hyde actually wrote was as follows:
“Communists know there is a battle going on all over the world which in the final analysis is a struggle for men’s hearts, minds and souls…Their aim is a Communist World…Communism become the dominant thing in the life of the Communist. It becomes something to which he gives himself completely.”
Douglas Hyde served the Communist Party in Great Britain as one of its top leaders for 20 years until he was converted to Christianity. The above quote is taken from his book, Dedication and Leadership (This book, in this writer’s opinion, is worth its weight in gold and should be read by every Christian, especially pastors). The fact that what he wrote about Communism is true explains the incredible growth and power of this monstrous system that continues to thrive and strive for world dominion, under a cloak of deception, in spite of the wishful thinking of many, and the deliberate deception by many of those holding key leadership position s in America today. In 1903 the Marxist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin and seven followers as serious as himself began to organize and plan to bring the entire world under the domination of Communism through a policy driven by conspiracy and deceit. Four years later they had attracted 10 other members as serious as themselves. In 1907, the membership of their Bolshevik Communist Party consisted of 17 members. Ten years later this number had increased to 40,000! In 1917 Lenin’s Bolshevik Communists overthrew the government and brought all of Russia under Communist rule. Today, nearly two billion people are enslaved under the atheistic, Communist system of government, and unless there is a mighty intervention by God on our behalf, Americans will soon be added to this number. How has this happened? It has happened because, “Communists know there is a battle going on all over the world which in the final analysis is a struggle for men’s hearts, minds and souls…Their aim is a Communist World…Communism become the dominant thing in the life of the Communist. It becomes something to which he gives himself completely.”
CHRISTIANS SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE IS A BATTLE GOING ON
Christians should know that there is “a battle going on all over the world which in the final analysis is a struggle for men’s hearts, minds and souls.” Mankind is lost, dead in trespasses and in sin, and a battle being fought in which the followers of Christ are striving to see people redeemed through the blood of the cross, delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God’s son the Lord Jesus Christ (Col. 1:13, 14). Battling to keep the unsaved of earth bound by sin and kept on course for hell is Satan and all of the unholy angels and people who do his bidding (2 Cor. 4:3, 4; Eph. 6:12; 2 Tim. 3:13; 2 Pet. 1-3). Does the average Christian appear to believe that there is a “battle,” a “struggle,” a “fight” going on for the hearts, minds and souls of men and women all over their world; all over their cities, all over their world? Are they at all aware that there is a “cause” bigger than themselves that they should be involved in? Apparently not. They are too busy fighting battles with their bill collectors, battles to belong and in many cases the battle of their bulge. In other words, their worldliness has them too busy spending, socializing and stuffing themselves to really care much about the cause of Christ. Many professed Christians and many churches are carnal. They are also clueless, spiritually speaking, as to what is going on in them and around them. They are ignorant of, or indifferent to the fact that “a battle going on all over the world which in the final analysis is a struggle for men’s hearts, minds and souls,” and that they are supposed to be engaged in it. This is why godless Communism has exploded all over the world while Christianity after 2,000 years has made so little progress relatively speaking in terms of reaching the lost and making disciples who are sold out in any real measure to the cause of Christ and His church.
CHRISTIANS SHOULD HAVE A WORLD VIEW AND A WORLD VISION
In his book, Dedication and Leadership, Douglas Hyde said of the communists, “Their aim is a Communist world.” Karl Marx, in his Communist Manifesto, wrote, “The communists disdain to conceal their aims. They have a world to win.” Before Lenin died in 1924, he had announced his plan for communist domination of the world. In part he said, “First, we will take Eastern Europe, then the masses of Asia, then we will encircle the United States which will be the last bastion of capitalism. We will not have to attack. It will fall like an overripe fruit into our hands.” The communists have stayed the course with their plan, and current events prove beyond any denial how successful they have been in carrying it out. Men and women who have been trained in Marxist dogma and who are determined to bring the American people under the communist system. now dominate our government and all of our other institutions “Socialism,” “nationalization,” the “New Deal,” the “Great Society,” or the “Change we need,”—these are all simply catch words, code words for programs intended to lead to the same thing: Communist domination as Lenin envisioned it. The communists have always known what their business is and they have always resolutely taken care of business. They have resolutely, ruthlessly, relentlessly, stayed with the stuff and kept the main thing the main thing—the main thing being “A Communist world.” They have stayed goal-oriented and focused on bringing every human being on earth into the Communist fold, and making the whole world one big Communist camp. In the meantime, Christians have not acted with any such sense of clarity of purpose or laser-like focus their great objective. The great objective of Christianity is to bring the message of Christ to the whole world and make sound, solid obedient disciples of every convert. That’s the goal, plain and simple. Jesus gave us our marching offers in Matthew 28:19,20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” Where Communists are concerned, “Their aim is a Communist World.” As Christians, our aim is a Christian world. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Prov. 29:18). The first church in Jerusalem were focused, and in a few weeks they filled Jerusalem with their doctrine and won thousands of souls to Christ (Acts 5:28; 2:28; 4:4;5:16;6:7). The apostle Paul had a clear vision for his life: He had a burning desire to be as conformed to Christ as he could possibly be conformed and to see as many people converted to Christ as he could possibly see converted (Rom. 8:29; Phil. 3:8-13; 1 Cor. 9:22, 23). Because he and his co-laborers knew their business and kept to their business as they did, it was said that “all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks,” and that Paul and his brethren had “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6; Acts 19:10). Christians have lost sight of their vision for the world, and this accounts for the pitiful progress made in reaching earth’s billions for Christ. . The communists have never lost their vision, and this accounts for the horrible headway they have made as they have steadily infiltrated, indoctrinated, influenced and enslaved the world. But his situation can change if believers and churches will start making the main thing the main thing once again.
CHRISTIANS SHOULD GIVE THEMSELVES COMPLETELY TO CHRIST AND HIS CAUSE
Anyone who knows anything about communism know the truth of Douglas Hyde’s statement that, “Communism become the dominant thing in the life of the Communist. It becomes something to which he gives himself completely.” Communist Party members have it ingrained in them from the beginning that being a communist means includes a willingness to sacrifice all that they have in terms of their time energy and resources to the cause of the party. They are taught to endure any hardship or persecution and be ready to sacrifice their very lives in the interest of the advancement of Communism. Referring to the these things, Lenin said, “It is necessary to be able to withstand all of this , to agree to any and every sacrifice.” Christianity makes no small demands on those who name the name of Christ. Jesus said that there is a price to be paid to able His disciple and do His work. He said, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” (Matt. 10:34-38). The Bible no where glosses over the dedication that characterizes real Christianity: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's” (1 Cor. 6:19, 20). That such knowledge is expected to be followed by action is stressed repeatedly: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Rom. 12:1, 2). The difference between the average Communist and the average Christian is that the average Communist does, more often, in actual practice, make Communism the dominant thing in his life, and does give himself more completely to it, while the average Christian does not take this position where Christianity is concerned. There are of course exceptions to this where Christians are concerned, and thank God for them. But the dedication of Christians to God and the cause of Christ often pales in comparison to the sacrifice Communists are willing to make to their godless ideology. “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God” (1 Pet. 4:17). |
