Our very busy furlough travel schedule has finally slowed down. Over the past few months we have been able to visit 30 of our supporting churches and preach for a couple of others. We count it a great honor to be used by our God to be a help and blessing to His children. We have only four more meetings to go and they are in churches in our home area. This allows us to spend time in our home church under the preaching of our pastor.
We were able to spend Thanksgiving with my mother. That was the first time in about thirty years I was able to be with mom for a holiday. It was truly a blessing. Christmas was spent with our girls and our grandsons. We learned something after spending a week living with four little boys (the oldest is three). God gives parents a special grace to handle the screams and cries of little children. Grandparents don't have that grace, we need to go outside and get a break every now and then. All kidding aside it is great being a grandparent and we had a wonderful time.
Our church in Korea is doing very well and growing. We have had four new military families join the church over the last few months. There is a Korean university professor that has been attending our church for over a year. He and his fiancée were both unsaved but, very faithful in attendance. Many had witnessed to them but they just weren't ready. Well, after praying for them for a year they were both saved and baptized last month. They were married and have become faithful members of Yongsan Baptist Church. Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. God is ever faithful and always so gracious to us.
We are preparing to return to Korea on March 17th. We have began mailing boxes and packing the things that we don't currently need. I don't look forward to the 15 hour flight but I do look forward to getting back to our work. We really miss our people. This furlough has been good for Joy. She has learned so many things that will be useful in the ministry. One of the greatest lessons that God taught her and she helped me to see is how much many of our supporters sacrifice so that we can go. I think many missionaries think they are the only ones making a sacrifice. We are not making any sacrifice we have been given the honor of serving God and we thank all of you who really do sacrifice to make it possible for us to be in Korea. We love all of you and thank God that He has partnered us with such wonderful and faithful people. God Bless all of you and Happy New Year.
