THEY WENT BOTH TOGETHER

Acts 14: 1: And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

The key to understanding what took place in the synagogue is found in verse 3: Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands. As Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly in the Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ bore witness unto the word of his grace in their hearts, and in the hearts of those who heard them preach. When we read verse 1: And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews and so spoke...let us rejoice that just as real as Paul and Barnabas went "both together into the synagogue", the Spirit of Christ along with Paul and Barnabas "went both together into the synagogue." The reason they "spoke so" and the reason why "a great multitude" believed was because of Christ in them who was "giving testimony unto the word of his grace." Not in every place where men make the motions of preaching, but in every place where the King of glory sends forth his preachers, the Lord Jesus Christ goes with them witnessing unto the word of his grace (Mt. 28: 19, 20.) Lord, may we ever be thankful for this amazing grace for you alone are the one who is able to teach your children in spirit and in truth.
