Small Error Huge Consequence Angus Buchan
Some crazy stuntmen like to jump from the roof of one tall building to the roof of another, flying over the death-chasm that divides them. You could look at the dead body of a stuntman who missed by a hairs-bredth, and say, "He's ok, he was so close, the small shortfall is insignificant." This is how it is when the truth of the gospel is exchanged for something that is so close that it could almost be mistaken for the real thing. How sad it is that millions are buying into a gospel that instructs them to do something, and then God will do something.Considering the breathtaking view of the gospel Paul spreads out before us in Romans 3:21-27, I have drawn a contrast between the modern gospel that is often mistaken for the real thing, and what Scripture shows the gospel to be. The Gospel is great and glorious. The Gospel is news about God, and what God has done. God saves without the aid of fallen sinners. Away with "decisional regeneration".
Even though this pale, sickly, modern gospel has been prolifically taught, it has been made so popular in South Africa by Angus Buchan that believers who know the gospel are hard pressed to speak the truth in love. Many have become emotionally attached to Angus, but have not exercised sufficient discernment in their hearing of his message. His is a gospel that could be compared to that crazy stuntman jumper. It is so close, but the area of error is fatal.
May God use this sermon powerfully in the lives of those who have failed to detect the error in this new diluted, distorted gospel.
