Dear Friends,God blessed this weekend in some exciting ways. We had a "full auditorium" Sunday morning; that is to say our chairs were all full and we put out two benches. There is room for more, of course, but it is kind of a goal to see all the chairs full. We are seeing a good number of the kids from Saturday Bible club come Sunday, from all three areas in which we have done it.
Saturday after the Bible club in Bayankhoshuu (our second time doing it there) Eebee dealt with four kids, one at a time, and three of them prayed to receive Christ as Savior. That of course was a blessing, but almost as much as that is to see Eebee, saved about 2 1/2 years now, becoming a consciencious and capable soulwinner! There are a few other kids that we expect to be saved soon.
As we pray for God's blessing and power, I expect God first to deal with us, that is, me, Becky and our church people. This weekend we have seen two evidences of that happening. It came out recently that a 73 year old woman who has been coming to our church for about 2 1/2 years now and her 40 0r s0 year old daughter have been at odds for over 20 years. The older woman almost broke down last week telling me about it on the way home after church in the van. She was afraid that the bitterness between her and her daughter would hinder the prayers of the church. It was really encouraging to see that concern and understanding in her. We met this Saturday and talked about it. Though she was ready to reconcile with her daughter, one thing holding her up was a tradition here that the daughter must come to the mother for reconciliation, not the other way around. When that came up I told her that that was "the course of this world", and not God's way. She immediately accepted that. I gave her three steps of Bible reading, praying and examining her own heart, and then going to her daughter, which I expected her to do, if not that day, within a day or two. She came out to where we had our tent set up for the Bible club not an hour later and told me that she was headed to her daughter's. It is hard for her to get around, as she broke her pelvis over a year ago and now goes on crutches, but she headed down the hill for her daughter's house, about 50 yards away; I prayed as she went. She was still there when we left, but Sunday she told me how wonderful a meeting it was. We'll watch and pray and help if needed to make sure the devil doesn't get in and mess things up again. I am not at all sure that her daughter has had a real change of heart. Of course their relatives are not saved, and always have something worthless to say.
I will try to be brief and relate one more blessing. A couple that had been members of a church in the country came to our church for the first time several months ago. They never were very consistent, and it came out recently that the husband was in some very deep, serious sin. I tried to help them several times, but he would not be honest. I mentioned them in an update or two in the past. This last time that the wife arranged a meeting, the husband was, at least in word, willing to meet, but I set down two requirements, "works meet for repentance", that he had to fulfill if I was going to spend my time trying to help them. About a week passed, and yesterday they were in church and asked to meet that evening. I must say I didn't have much faith in him, as he had lied to me before, but praise the Lord, he seems to have met in full the requirements I laid down. We will meet again Tuesday, and regularly during the month that he has off of work now. Please pray for geniune repentance and determination on his part, and wisdom and the Holy Spirit's power to help on my part.
Another prayer request is for Erdenebayar, whom I have also mentioned before. He also has a month off of work now, and I counseled him that it is time to go ahead fully in the Lord's will, which will probably mean that his wife will leave him. We have been praying hard that God would work a miracle and break her hard heart. We are asking God for that kind of miracles, for in that He will be glorified the most, as a sinner will come to Him, and a family will be saved. I would appreciate your prayers for this situation.
We praise God for His mercy and help so far, and look for much more in the future, as we know His mercies are new every morning. Thank you for your participation in this ministry.
In Christ,
Jason
