Spiritual warfare is a subject that has brought such confusion to the church over a number of years. Even in Bunyan's day, the reality of satanic attack was are reality. Sitting in his prison cell, Bunyan vividly expands his metaphor of Apollyon thrashing Christian. It is this picture that helps believers to identify satanic attack in their lives, the kind of things he does to try to destroy Christians and what kind of power he ultimately has.
