ZEBULON BAPTIST CHURCH Weekly Bulletin Sunday, October 12th, 2008
How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Psalm 84:1-5

THE HOLY SPIRIT "He shall glorify me: for He shall receive of mine and shall show it unto you"(John16:14).
The Holy Spirit DOES NOT glorify Himself, nor magnify His gifts, nor inspire men to preach and talk continuously of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit DOES NOT teach men that being baptized with the Spirit, endowed with gifts, and attaining a higher life experience is BETTER THAN SALVATION and receiving Christ by faith, The Holy Spirit ALWAYS glorifies Christ, speaks of Christ, reveals Christ, and enables believers to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus! Who our Lord is, what He has done, is doing, and will do is the theme of the Holy Spirit's teaching. Pastor Henry Mahan
Limited Atonement Limited atonement is the plainly revealed truth of Holy Scripture and the fundamental doctrine of the gospel. Deny it and you deny the gospel, you deny the faith of Christ. Many today try to talk out of both sides of their mouths, compromising the gospel while pretending to defend the faith. They tell us that there is a sense in which Christ died for all men and made salvation a possibility for all. The Word of God never dabbles in possibilities. The gospel is not good advice offering sinners the possibility of redemption; but good news, declaring to helplessly lost, doomed and damned sinners the effectual accomplishment of redemption by the sacrifice of Christ the Lamb of God, as the sinner's Substitute.
Nowhere in Holy Scripture is there the slightest indication that Christ died for those who are forever damned to suffer the wrath of God in hell. Rather, in every place where the death of Christ is proclaimed, in type, in prophecy and in the full revelation of the gospel given in the Gospels and Epistles, the Spirit of God sets it before us as a sacrifice of infinite merit and efficacy made for a specific people. Pastor Don Fortner
HE GIVETH MORE GRACE As I grow older and experience more of the wretchedness of my old sinful nature, the more I realize my need of more grace. There is one thing that will enable me to overcome my old self, and that is more grace. I realize that if God's grace were not infinite, I would use it up in less than a day. I need more grace today than ever before. I need more grace to think upon Him and less of myself, I need more grace to worship Him in spirit and in truth; I need more grace to love my brothers and my enemies. Never will there be a time that I won't need more grace; in fact, if I ever begin to think that I can do it myself, I need more grace. Grace, grace, marvelous grace!
"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble" (James 4:6). Pastor John Chapman
I AM DESTITUTE OF IT I constantly maintain the glories, beauties, and preciousness of love; and yet I am branded an enemy to love. But, if by love, they mean I ought to unite with those who deny the Deity of my God and Saviour; if by love they mean I ought to unite occasionally with people who say without a blush that election is a damnable doctrine and hate it in their hearts; that imputed righteousness is "imputed nonsense," a doctrine that ought to be spurned by all, which is the very covering that hides all my shame, the very robe that adorns my naked soul, and is the joy and rejoicing of my heart, and which I have found to be the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; if they mean by love that I ought to unite with people who testify that we may be a child of God one day and testify that we may be a child of the devil another; that Christ died and atoned for the sins of Esau as well as Jacob, for Cain as well as Abel, for Judas as well as Peter, and that there are thousands in Hell for whom Christ died; if they mean by love that I ought to unite and call them BRETHREN who profess to believe the doctrines of grace, and call themselves Calvinists, but can declare at times that those blessed doctrines which are so precious and glorious to my soul are non-essential things; that is, if I understand their meaning right, they view them as useless things, and that it is of no consequence whatever whether we receive or believe these doctrines or not, provided we do unite with all sorts, and pray for all, and be candid and mild, and esteem all as partakers of grace; I confess from my heart, if all this be love, I AM DESTITUTE OF IT, and instead of being grieved for my lack of it, I glory in it. John Warburton (1776 -1857)
