Thought For The Week:
"The harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
Prayer For The Church:
Pray for the on-going work of the Church as our midweek meetings continue. Please pray that there will be a gradual increase in numbers at the KIC club without spoiling the good atmosphere.
Prayer For The Wider Area:
Christian Compassion Ministries - Manila, Philippines.
Christian Compassion Ministries began in 1995 as a result of Cubao Reformed Baptist Church being made aware of the needs around us in Cubao. The number of girls under our care has increased to 60. We have concentrated on girls although there is a real need for a boys home, mainly because we do not have the male staff to run such a home.
Educational Assistance
CCM is seeking to help over 300 families by providing at least one child in the home an opportunity to go to school. We provide a school uniform, shoes, a bag, note books and monthly allowance. Opportunities are given for Christian witness as literature is given to the family. The child is invited to attend the Sunday School and the parents a Bible Study in their area as well as the church. However we do not make this compulsory but pray and invite those helped to attend.
Bringing Good News Into Kent Classrooms - News from Fegans
In Thanet, Fegans has a lunchtime club programme called Scoop that tells school children the good news about Jesus in a fun and relevant way.
Many of the children attending Scoop come from families who do not go to church and the Bible clubs may be their first chance to hear the gospel message. Scoop ran in eight junior schools in Thanet earlier this year. The clubs run for 17 weeks over the winter and spring terms. The first six weeks are spent telling the basics of the gospel and the second chunk of the programme looks at living the Christian life, exploring areas such as prayer, the Holy Spirit and church. "We talk about how the story of how God loves us is the biggest story ever - that's where the name Scoop comes from," The Scoop sessions use clips from current children's films to illustrate important points, so that the message is fun and up-to-date for school children.
Fegans has a vision to link up school children and churches through Scoop.
Volunteers from local churches have been helping to run Scoop clubs and, for the Scoop session about church, churches are invited to send people along to talk about their Sunday school and children's groups.
