Witness against New Sodom 2008 British Church Newspaper, 18 July 2008
What has now become an annual witness against New Sodom, parading its shame on the streets of London, took place on Saturday 5th of July. The witness, organised by the United Protestant Council, was attended by some thirty Christians from around the UK, who took their stand at Waterloo Place.
For the past few years the police have provided a cordoned off area for those witnessing and have provided protection against the violent men and women of New Sodom. In fact, this year the police were particularly helpful. It is very important that the right of Christians to make a public stand against this evil has now been established.
As soon as the loud speaker equipment was functional the preaching began and lasted without ceasing, apart from when some particularly noisy float was passing, for some three and a half hours. New Sodom was left in no doubt as to what God thought of such behaviour. They were also repeatedly called upon to repent and seek salvation through Christ. The actual procession was delayed for about one and a half hours which meant that the preaching was unhindered by the noise of passing floats. While the preaching was taking place others were able to circulate and hand out tracts. There were quite a number of people passing as well as those waiting for the procession. Many conversations took place at this time.
The procession did not have as many floats as usual and the behaviour and dress of the sodomites was considerably less outrageous, though still disgraceful, by comparison with previous years.
This year, for the first time, there were small contingents from the army and RAF. The police contingent seemed to be smaller than usual.
Lord Mayor of London
The Conservative Lord Mayor of London, Boris Johnson walked in the procession wearing a cowboy hat. According to a newspaper report he had addressed the gathered multitudes congratulating them on the carnival atmosphere and how such an event couldn't have taken place thirty years ago. This does not augur well for the future if the Conservatives win power at the next election.
During the witness a number of Christians came up and encouraged those taking a stand. A number of these were from overseas.
Quite a number of sodomites and lesbians came over to speak with those witnessing. One girl in particular expressed her desire to be changed. She said she had tried to commit suicide on two occasions. She said she had prayed to God, and a young man also said he had done, but God had not answered. It was pointed out to them that God only hears repentant sinners and since they both were blaming God for their predicament they were not going to be heard. Some Christians are in touch with this girl by mobile phone. Several other useful conversations took place.
There were of course the usual rude gestures and comments. The police told one of those witnessing that the sodomites referred to the enclosure as the "Pig Pen".
God's people were greatly encouraged as they reviewed the events of the day. The only thing to discourage was the relative few who turned out to take a stand. There are those who call themselves Reformed, Conservative and Fundamentalist but, alas, they have a name that they live and are dead.
