"In my 40 years of Christian life, I've never heard anything like this." It has taken me 10 years to preach this sermon. I find the reality of hell fearful beyond description. The Bible's teaching on hell is not taken seriously enough today. It is out of love that I have preached this sermon on Hell. How conscious I was, as I preached, that many who were in good health, hearing my words, would actually experience the horrors I was describing. This study and the many hours of intense thought on this gruesome subject have re-awakened my appreciation for the grace of God in salvation. One woman who sat and listened to this sermon said, "In my 40 years of Christian life, I've never heard anything like this. " Oh that God would use this sermon to so pierce the hearts of those who are plummeting to their doom, that they will be snatched from the flames of hell itself and delight in His saving grace and glory forever.
Just as a word of explanation: This sermon is actually no. 017 in my "Preaching Pilgrim's Progress" series, but because of the critical nature of this particular topic, I have uploaded it under this name in order to give it more exposure. This will explain why the sermon begins with a reading of a section from John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.
