The person, who believes God's promise to save, obeys God's command to trust him to save. The person who obeys God lives out their days by faith in God. They obey his command because they believe God has provided all that he requires of them. The Holy Spirit declares that was the case with all the men and women spoken of thus far in this eleventh chapter of Hebrews. From the day God revealed Christ in them, they never turned from him. Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sara, (and it most likely refers to that innumerable multitude of spiritual Israel which came from Abraham and dwelt in the midst of national Israel) all died the same way they lived, in faith.

Believers do not make a profession of faith then go back to their rebellion, while for the rest of their lives they look to that one-time profession for their acceptance with God. We do not flee to God occasionally when times are sad, or painful, or we need to get out of a jam. Believer's journey till the day they die, looking to the hope set before us, persuaded that God is true, embracing him who promised, and confessing that we are strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Scripture tells us repeatedly: The just shall live by faith. That is exactly how every believer lives. Every believer, whom God has justified and revealed Christ in, lives all their days in constant faith upon God who justified us. Believers die the same way, in faith.
