The Rules of Nature

Hebrews 11: 11: Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

I often hear folks discredit the scriptures, saying, "That goes against the rules of nature." Noah placing all the animals, two-by-two, in the ark may go against the rules of nature, but who made the rules? The parting of the Red Sea may go against the rules of nature, but who rules nature? Sara conceiving a child and delivering a child when she was over ninety years old may go against the rules of nature, but it is not impossible with God who made nature.

Why would folks throw up such a smoke screen? If I can disprove the miraculous birth of one promised child, as here with Sara, then I can cast doubt on the birth of Christ from the womb of a virgin. If I can cast doubt on his virgin birth I can cast doubt on his sinless nature. If I can cast doubt on his sinless nature I can cast doubt on his perfect obedience under the law. If I can cast doubt on his perfect obedience under the law then I can cast doubt on his offering at Calvary, on his finished redemption, on his being raised, on his being King of glory, on his right to save whom he will, yea...I can cast doubt on him. And this is the end purpose of all such vain talk.
