This Friday (5/23) will be the monthly Fourth Friday event in downtown Fayetteville. Elder Brunson and Bill Legg will be setting up a table for Providence PCA church and distributing free literature and tracts. If you would like to volunteer to help out please just send back an email to the church list or contact Elder Brunson (ahavah7 AT yahoo DOT com) or Brother Bill Legg (wmlegg AT gmail DOT com). They'll let you know where they'll be located downtown.
Also, in June our Wednesday Night Bible Study will be switching over to a video class on principles of biblical parenting entitled The Case for Kids presented by Tedd and Paul David Tripp authors of Shepherding a Child's Heart, Age of Opportunity: A Biblical Guide to Parenting Teens, Instructing a Child's Heart and a wealth of other counseling and parenting materials. Here is the official blurb:
Are you interested in the idea of shepherding your child's heart? This video offers a simple and cumulative approach to the task of biblical parenting. Based on the shepherding principals discussed in Shepherding a Child's Heart and Age of Opportunity it's a clear summary and reminder of why shepherding hearts is so important. Beginning with what a family is and concluding with ways to help our children see God's glory, brothers Paul and Tedd Tripp deal biblically and practically with the command to train children in the way they should go. They address the issues of the heart that motivate children from infancy to adulthood. They talk about a biblical understanding of authority. They explain the principle of sowing and reaping - actions and consequences. And they emphasize the necessity of reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ.
If you know of parents or people planning on becoming parents who might be interested in this series - Christian or not - I would strongly encourage you to invite them to participate. Starting on June 4th, the classes will be held on Wednesdays at the church from 6:30 to 7:45. There is a children's bible study and childcare available for infants and toddlers.
