As The Face of an Angel

Acts 6: 15: And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

By God's grace, Stephen was filled full of faith and power. He served God for God's honor. Stephen served the interest of the Lord's kingdom by faithfully providing for his apostles and his people for the uninterrupted continuance of the gospel. As the council looked steadfastly on him, Stephen knew the will of God was to cast all his care on the Lord because he is the caretaker of his people (1 Pet 5: 6,7.) Thus in this hour of need the Lord emboldened Stephen as he promised he would (Mark 13:11.)

Stephen knew that the Wisdom by which he spoke was the Wisdom of Christ his Lord. He knew the Power by which he spoke was not his own, but the power of the Holy Spirit. By grace he knew the revelation of God's Word had its glory from and in Christ Jesus the Lord. Therefore, in full assurance of faith, by the Wisdom and Power of his God his face was not pale in fear or red with anger but had a comely, meek and gentle appearance as it had been the face of an angel (Ecc 8:1.)

May we as believers, trust God to provide what we need, to use us as it pleases him, that the end purpose of all our conduct be to glorify God. This is his will which he has revealed in us. He promises us more grace to continue in it (Heb 13:5.) May we stand fast in the gospel of Christ our Redeemer, full of the confidence the Holy Spirit gives, even in the face of opposition as Stephen. For no matter what comes our way, not a hair of our head shall perish. Our Lord has promised us eternal life with him (Rev 2:10, 11.)
