Christ Is All

“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all” (Col. 3:10-11).

How much religion, tradition, and ceremony can a man know and observe and yet not know God? Well, the Jews observed thousands of Passovers yet never saw CHRIST, OUR PASSOVER. They slew thousands of lambs and never saw CHRIST, THE LAMB OF GOD. They kept thousands of Sabbaths and never knew the rest of CHRIST, OUR SABBATH. They ordained thousands of priests and never saw CHRIST, THE GREAT HIGH PRIEST. They actually carried the mercy-seat on their shoul­ders yet never came to CHRIST, OUR MERCY-SEAT. They ate the manna and drank from that Rock but never tasted the BREAD AND WATER OF LIFE--CHRIST JESUS. Oh, Lord, open my eyes to see HIM who is all and in all!

God Is God Over All

Psalm 24:1-2; A Psalm of David.“The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.”

I believe the greatest issue of our day is God’s Sovereignty. It is God being God in all things, it is God ruling over all, it is God choosing whom He will and passing by whom He will. This is the issue that this unbelieving world has with God. I say this, when men create a world they can run it as they will, but this one belongs to Almighty God and He is running it as He will. Do you know anyone wiser to rule over all?

Heirs Of God’s Grace

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together” (Romans 8:16-17).

Here we learn from the Holy Scriptures that God’s Spirit testifies and gives evidence unto our spirit, that new spirit imparted in regenerating grace through the preaching of the Gospel, that we are God’s children, adopted in Christ Jesus. This blessed witness, the witness from God’s Spirit that the sheep are heirs of God’s grace and blessings and are joint-heirs with Christ, is a testimony of indescribable comfort and joy. The natural unregenerate man, the old man born in Adam, will not receive or believe the witness of the Gospel, it’s foolishness unto him, but to every one born from above, it is a witness willingly received by faith in the day of God’s power. ONLY ONE THING USEFULWHEN IT IS BROKEN

I cannot think of many things that are useful when they are broken. We are either forced to discard them or to try to have them repaired. You cannot drive a broken car. You cannot use a broken computer. A broken arm will not be of much service to you nor can you walk on a broken leg. I can only think of one thing that is very useful when it is broken, a broken and a contrite heart. When God in His infinite mercy is pleased to call us to Himself and reveal the gospel to us, He breaks the hard and stony heart of sin and gives us a heart of flesh to humbly approach the throne of grace (Ezek. 36:26). Consider the advantages of a broken heart!

1). A broken heart is acceptable and pleasing unto God! "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise" (Psalm 51:17).

2). It makes the soul a fit vessel for God to dwell in! "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones" (Isaiah 57:15).

3). It draws the sinner close to his Lord and Saviour! "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

4). It exposes the sheep to the sweet healing of the Shepherd! "I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick" (Ezek. 34:16).

5). It is the evidence of the work of the Holy Spirit within us! "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged" (John 16:8-10).
