MEDITATIONS IN THE PSALMS (10-6-24) [An outline of the Psalm A good devotional study when using the scriptures indicated] Psalm 37:12-15, Study 4, Enmity V12: âThe wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.â Matt 2:13, âNow when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, âArise take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.â Matt 26:59, âNow the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death.â Matt 27:1, âWhen morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death.â Mark 13:11-13, âBut when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand, what ye shall speak, neither do you premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against parents and shall cause them to be put to death. And you shall be hated of all men for My nameâs sake: but he that shall endure unto the end shall be saved.â (Acts 4:15-21). Why is this? Why doesnât the âwickedâ allow the godly to be? Because of the enmity within their hearts, âSo the Lord God said to the serpent: âBecause you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, more than every beast; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise (crush) your head, and you shall bruise His heel (the cross).â Why plot and scheme with subtleness? The nature of the ungodly is likened to the serpentâs subtleness, then he âgnashes upon you with his teeth.â This society of ungodliness is a graceless, merciless breed. Youâve heard said, âThat young man or woman comes from good stock.â No such thing, read Ps 58:1-6. V.13, âThe Lord shall laugh.â Why? Because all the endeavors and schemes are in vain against His people. Children heed my words! You had better not fight against those godly parents (Mark13:12), you had rather join them. âGodâs day is coming;â His Day of Judgment or His day of reckoning (signify the same} will come; father, mother, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law (Luke12:53) heed. Vâs 14-15, âThe wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to slay those who are of upright conduct. Their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.â Read Daniel 6, because Daniel believed in his God he was preserved through faith. Though his cause was righteous and he was unjustly accused, those things alone did not protect him before the lions. Daniel needed a living abiding faith in God, even in the most difficult circumstances. And 2 Kings 19, where Isaiah prophesied that God would save the city and humble the king of Assyria for mocking the âHoly One of Israel.â God sent an angel into the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 men of the Assyrian army.â âOur God is able to deliver thee; go to Him for rest; our God is able to deliver thee.â ~~Terry Worthan, 1938-2022
