Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. Psalm 37:7-8

"AS MANY AS"

John said, "He was in the world and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and they received Him not. But AS MANY AS received Him, to them gave He the privilege to become sons of God." (John 1:10-12).

"As many as." Who are they? No names; no national distinction; no merit, morality, nor class; no age, sex, nor denomination; just "AS MANY AS" receive Him and believed on His name! Who are they? I can help you to find out who they are by these scriptures. Acts 2:39, "The promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, EVEN AS MANY AS THE LORD OUR GOD SHALL CALL." Acts 13:48, "When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord, and AS MANY AS WERE ORDAINED TO ETERNAL LIFE BELIEVED." Rom. 8:14, "For AS MANY AS ARE LED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD, they are the sons of God." Rev. 3:19,"AS MANY AS I LOVE, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous, therefore, and repent." What a privilege and blessing of God to be numbered with the "AS MANY AS!"

GOD’S GOSPEL

‘That gospel of the glory of the blessed God’ (I Tim. 1:11),in the salvation of sinners is the most wonderful, the most amazing, and the most glorious “Good News” which ever fell upon human ear! It is in every way characteristic of its Author and suitable to the desperate need of spiritually dead sinners (Eph. 2:1-7). It manifests the holiness and righteousness of God in justifying the unholy and unrighteous, the infinite love of God in saving those who are altogether unlovable, and the infinite power of God in creating life in those who are “dead in trespasses and in sins.”

This salvation is fully accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ for His people, for sinners. There is FULL! FREE! ETERNAL! salvation for lost, undeserving, hell-deserving sinners in the Lord Jesus Christ! This salvation comes to sinners freely, by grace, through faith (Eph. 2:8, 9). They hear the “Good News;” they believe the word spoken; they trust in the Lord Jesus Christ through the Word – and they have Christ! and they have life!

When food and drink is set before the hungry and thirsty, they eat and drink with thanksgiving. When Christ and life is set forth before (declared, Gal. 3:1) lost, guilty, condemned, hell-deserving, dying sinners, they embrace Him and live upon Him with thanksgiving unto the triune God. They “worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Phil. 3:3).

Dear believing sinner, rejoice with thanksgiving and praise unto our great God and Saviour. Dear lost, unbelieving sinner, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou SHALT be saved” (Acts 16:31).

Pastor Maurice Montgomery

OUR PRAYER FOR THE LORD'S PEOPLE

"Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever" (Psalm 28:9).

David in this last verse of this Psalm closes with a sincere and fervent prayer for the Lord's people. He prays for vital things that we as sinners desperately and constantly need. Let us make this our prayer!

1). Save thy people….Who are these people? They belong to Christ by electing love (John 6:37; Eph. 1:3-6). They are His by redeeming blood (Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 6:20; 1 Peter 1:18-20). They are His by an effectual call of grace (2Tim. 1:9). What do Christ's people need? Salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ, for; "All we like sheep have gone astray." Our Lord came to seek out and to save His lost sheep (Luke 19:10).

2). Bless thine inheritance, those who are the heirs of salvation, (Rom. 8:17). In Christ we have a blessed and eternal inheritance; "An inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. (1 Peter 1:3). Lord, bless your inheritance; the sheep of your hand and the people of thy pasture (Psalm 95:7). Bless your people with all spiritual blessings in Christ (Eph. 1:3-6). Bless your people with greater zeal and passion for the gospel of the free and sovereign grace (Phil. 1:27). Bless your people with greater confidence and assurance of complete salvation in Christ (Phil. 3:3; Col. 2:9-10).

3). Feed them…what do the sheep desire to eat, sheep food? Christ is the Bread of life, (John 6:35). The Scripture is all about Christ, we feed on Him through the Word of life (John 5:39). God's servants are charged to; "Feed the church of God, that He purchased with His own blood" (Acts 20:28; 2 Tim. 4:1-2; 1 Peter 5:1-3).

4). Lift them up for ever…. Lord, lift them up from the dungeon of sin, lift them up from the curse of the law, lift them up from the dunghill of works, lift them up and make them one with Christ and lift them up to glory with Christ forever. "Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Eph. 2:5-6).
