WORTH HOLDING FAST

"Hold fast the profession of your faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised" (Heb. 10:23). My prayer and desire for you who hear me preach and who believe the gospel of our dear Redeem­er is that I may be able to teach you THE TRUTH OF GOD and that God will reveal Christ in you and give you the grace to, "hold fast the form of sound words." Whatever the future may hold (the death of your pas­tor, your removal from this place, great and peri­lous circumstances and trials, the loss of your com­panion, or the total loss of your health), I pray that every one of you stand as firm and unmoved as the mountains, ABIDING IN CHRIST, HIS LOVE, AND HIS WORD! If our gospel be the true gospel, then it is worth your hearing; if it be worth hearing, it is worth believing; if it be worth believing, it is WORTH HOLDING FAST!

HE LOVED HER

In Genesis 24:67 we read that “He loved her” this is written concerning Isaac’s affection for his bride Rebekah, but the same statement applies to Christ and His church - HE LOVED HER.

• HE loves HIS church with an everlasting love - “Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3)
• HE loves HIS church with a sacrificial love - Who loved me and gave HIMSELF for me (Galatians 2:20)
• HE loves us with a particular love. Isaac’s love was not for all women, it was for Rebekah (He loved her). HE loved us. (Ephesians 2:4)
• HE presents his bride to HIMSELF “a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:27)
• HIS love is an eternal love in which we are eternally secure. Nothing shall separate us from the love of GOD which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39)

May HE be pleased to reveal HIS love to us and cause us to love our wives in the same manner. HE instructs us to do so in HIS word - “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave HIMSELF for it.” (Ephesians 5:25)

“THY PEOPLE SHALL BE WILLING” (Ps. 110:3).

God’s elect worship and serve Him with willing hearts. We willingly believe, willingly worship, willingly give, and willingly do what we can for the glory of God. It is God who, by effectual grace makes us willing; but we are willing servants of the most high God! Any worship, service or gift offered to God that is not done with a willing heart is an abomination to Him.

God has arranged all our concerns with consummate wisdom, in the very best possible manner. He overrules all events by His omnipotent power. He directs all things by His paternal love. If infinite wisdom, omnipotent power, and paternal love, are engaged for our present and eternal welfare – then our fears must be groundless, and our anxiety folly. Our fears only dishonor God, distress the mind, please Satan, and grieve the godly.

THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

Oh, what good news the gospel of Jesus Christ declares to sinners. We are by birth and nature children of darkness, loving darkness rather than the Light of the truth (John 3:19; Eph. 2:12).

However, by the marvelous power of God through the gospel of Christ (Rom. 1:16), God has delivered us from the power of darkness into the kingdom of the Son of His love (Col. 1:13). That we should show forth the praises of Him Who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (2 Cor. 4:6; 1 Peter 2:9).

Furthermore, the gospel declares unto all that believe, the precious blood atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Not the blood of bulls and goats, not the ceremony and traditions of men, but the glorious blood offering of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, nothing less, nothing more and nothing else (Heb. 9:26; 1 Peter 1:18-20), cleanses us from all sin; original sin, actual sin, spiritual and natural sin, ALL sin forever (Heb. 10:14-17)!
