The most important thing to learn in discerning God’s will in the Bible is to rightly identify and divide the mystery of Christ from what was spoken to the prophets concerning Christ.
What God had spoken of by the mouth of His prophets since the world began is not what God kept secret since the world began (Acts 3:21 vs. Rom 16:25). Mixing mystery truth with the message prophesied to Israel has led to many doctrinal heresies and confusions.
Without understanding the mystery Christ revealed to Paul we cannot be faithful stewards of those mysteries, nor faithful ministers of Christ.
“Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” – 1 Cor 4:1-2
More importantly, if we do not understand the mystery of Christ revealed to Paul we cannot obey the Lord’s greatest commission “to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery” with its unsearchable riches (Eph 3:8-9). With a full Bible, we have no excuse today for not reading further than Acts 2:38.
After the apostle Paul received the message of the gospel of the grace of God (Rom 16:25,etc) he warned the Galatians about other gospels - Galatians 1:8 (KJV) But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
There are so many ministries today who mix the gospel of the Kingdom (Mt 9:35) that does not include the death, burial, and resurrection ( Mk 8:31-33, 9:31-32, 10:32-34, LK 18:33-34), with the gospel of the grace of God, that right division ( 2 Tim 2:15) is absolutely essential.
There are no passages where the Apostle Paul requires water baptism and establishes it as an ordinance of the church.
There are no passages where the Apostle Paul gave instruction to church concerning water baptizing people to become a member of the church.
To get into specifics, no Pastors or Bishops baptized anyone. Philip the evangelist, the Apostles, and John the Baptist are the only clear examples of men water baptizing.
The only reason this is brought up is the fact that most of what is believed today comes from sermons and commentaries instead of bible study ( 2 Tim 2:15, 1 Cor 2:13).
The doctrine for this present age of Grace is laid out in Paul's epistles and not the book of Acts. There is doctrine that lines up with his epistles but the Scriputres aren't complete then and Acts records the fall of the nation of Israel.
