Tradition over Biblical truth is nothing new
The apostasy from the spokesman of this present age of grace (Eph 3:1-9) started before the apostle Paul died (2 Tim 1:15) and is still in full swing today. It is so easy to fall into the trap of putting tradition and the commandments of men above the words of God like the Pharisees of old ( Mk 7:7-10), and as was warned about in (Col 2:8), that people will adjust the Bible to their beliefs instead of adjusting their belief to the Bible. None of us have arrived ( Phil 3:12) but doctrine is more important than denominational and family loyalties (1 Tim 1:3).
We will take up the subject of water baptism and some of the controversy surrounding it today. So many are led to believe that they must be water baptized to be saved or as I've heard it said, “aren't saved until you are water baptized,” that some Scripture needs to be looked at on this issue to make sure people realize salvation is based on the gospel in ( 1 Cor 15:1-4) and that alone (Eph 2:8-9). Paul said he was set for the defense of the gospel ( Phil 1:17) and that is more important than “friends, family, finances, and foes.”
Our spokesman for this present age of grace (Rom 11:13,etc) only mentioned water baptism once (1 Cor 1:17) and it was in the context of division. Arguments over who? How? When? Why? Are still a common thing among believers today and can only be reconciled by believing what the Bible says to you in your present dispensation.
Our intention is not to go to war with someone over water baptism but just to show what the Bible says concerning the subject and to make sure people realize it's not part of the gospel of the grace of God for salvation - 1 Corinthians 1:17 (KJV) For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. However it was part of the message of the gospel of the Kingdom -Acts 2:38 (KJV) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Peter did not yet know what was later revealed to the apostle Paul about the cross. After the Nation of Israel rejected the Holy Ghost in Acts 7 with the stoning of Stephen, God called out a new Apostle with a new message and ministry (Eph 3:1-9, Gal 1:11-12).
