Job 40:6 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

In verse 6 God again spoke to Job out of the whirlwind. A whirlwind is something that will draw attention. God again challenged Job to behave like a man. A man stands to attention and is ready to listen. He does not cower behind a bush like Adam did after he fell. He accepts responsibility for his actions.
God was not done rebuking Job yet. Job needed to take responsibility for the bad testimony he had been to his friends and to his wife. He had rejected her counsel that he should curse God and die. However, he had not shown her the right way to deal with adversity.
To disannul is to frustrate or make ineffectual. Did Job really believe that he was wiser than God? We know the answer to that is, no. Job needed to stop and think of what he was saying and doing. He never intended to demean God’s nature, but by his words, that was what he was doing.
Job had no right to condemn God to try to make himself look righteous. God had already declared Job to be a God-fearing man who eschewed evil. Job had wrongly assumed that God must be punishing him for something. Job did not take into account the evil nature of Satan. It is important to walk humbly with God and to ask Him if there is something we are overlooking or deliberately ignoring. That was not what Job had been doing. He had been far too aggressive toward God. God had tolerated this for a time, but He had not accepted it. It was now time to address this sinful attitude and to correct it.
Job did not have the strength nor the impact that God had. He was like the flower of the grass that is there for a short time and then withers away.
In verse 10 God challenged Job to dress himself up with majesty and excellency and with glory and with beauty. Of course, Job could not do that. Without God, Job was nothing.
It is important for man to know this. It is important for every true child of God to be reminded that if it were not for God’s gift of eternal life, we would be nothing. We would stumble our way through life and accomplish nothing of any value. This is difficult for the flesh to swallow, but it is necessary to understand this. Most men who aspire to be leaders, think far too highly of themselves. This is especially true of lost men. Of course lost women are not immune to this. The child of God must understand that his worth is found in knowing Christ. Jesus declared:

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Jesus told Nicodemus:

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus was a master of the Jews, but he was quite ignorant of that which was needful in any good master.
Job needed to be reminded of who he was and Who God was. God was not mean in what He was doing. He was showing Job the only way of blessing. Those who are saved need to submit to His authority and be content to serve Him.
Degrees do not need to be a sin, but often times they get in the way of being a humble servant of the Lord. The Jews tried to flatter Jesus at times by calling Him “Rabbi”. They called Him “good master”. They were correct in calling Him those things, but they did not flatter Him with that. He was and is the Lord and Master. He is worthy of worship and praise. He did not flaunt that. That is Who He is. We are not that important. We prove our faithfulness by our obedience to Him after we are saved. We do not need some title to try to impress people. We need to be humble servants of God and let Him exalt us.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

I Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

We can only be a blessing to others when we exalt God in our lives. When we get in the way, we rob God of His rightful place in our hearts and lives and also in our testimony to others.

Jesus stated:

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

We are saved to be witnesses unto Jesus, not unto ourselves. Job was getting a first hand lesson in what life is really all about. We need that same lesson regularly.
