Psalms 4:3, "But know that the Lord has set apart the godly man for Himself; The Lord hears when I call to Him."
This is the greatest privilege we can have - God hearing us in prayer. Use it to get the chief blessing, which is God himself. Use it for communion, and for doing good unto others. Use it for growth in love, for it's surely God's will. Use it for strength, joy, and peace. Use it to satisfy your soul.
Too often, we're satisfied in religious activity, running around like Martha. We compare ourselves to others, and put them down. We don't realize the ministry is God serving us, so we can serve others. Let's get his Spirit, power, and fellowship. Let's live in his peace.
Psalms 4:6 Many are saying, “Who will show us any good?” Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord!"
The light of God's face is all that we need. His presence satisfies us fully. To be with God in the storm is to walk on water. Communing with him is our greatest treasure. No one else can touch the bottom of our soul with joy unspeakable.
Feast upon on these good things. Don't count them as myths only a few can enjoy. Know what it takes. Obey him. Confess your sins, and rely on his strength. Serve God. Seek after him. Psalms 4:5, "Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the Lord."
Psalms 4:8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety."
The Lord is the ONLY ONE that gives us our deepest desire. Friends can't do it, nor can family, or money. Sex can't do it, nor can entertainment. Health is good, but it doesn't satisfy us. God alone gives us what we seek. Let's be God chasers, knowing that no other thrill truly quenches. Nothing else brings us to fulfillment, worship, and safety.
It's God blessed safety. Pure joy without guilt attached. There's no drinking to deeply. We can't pursue God too much. Everything else, if given possession of our heart, is dangerous idolatry. Let's put God first, and we'll have all. Pursue him.
