And the Lord said to Moses, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”
God can be trusted. He'll provide for us, according to our needs. He'll give us the Spirit, so we can serve him.
He's already made us new creations. The death of Christ has brought the blessing. The Spirit will come, because Christ loves us, and he'll fill us with power. Ephesians 3:17, "and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love."
Believe the gospel, and be comforted. The Lord will provide holiness, righteousness, and strength. He'll subdue our sins.
First, "Has the Lord's arm been shortened?" Is his power limited? Is he weak? He can make us sincere and pure. He can subdue our sins.
Making us new creations was the great work. It cost the Son's life! Oh, how he suffered. He endured God's wrath for everyone who believes, even all the Father gave him. He lived a perfect life, endured temptations, and he suffered all our mistreatment and ignorance. Then, he gave up his life for our sin. Now, if he endured our rebellion, and loved us upon the cross, then he'll certainly help us from the throne! Romans 5:10, "For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life."
Seek God's help by the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:19, "and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." Confess your sins, but don't grovel in unbelief. He loves us in our unworthiness and filthiness. This is how we overcome. The gospel works in power by faith in Christ's love. Go to him in prayer. Think upon his love, and receive it! You'll be mighty like Samson!
Secondly, "you shall see." God will be faithful. He will not let us down.
You'll see the joy and peace of believing. Romans 15:13, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Power over sin will be visible. The Holy Spirit will help us, and we'll overcome lusts. Secret sins will be subdued. Sincerity and love will come from us. We'll walk in true humility, seeking the benefit of others. We'll be selfless and genuine by God's power, not our own. We'll reap the rewards of faith and authenticity. We'll see God, and our hearts will be full, abounding in consolation by the Spirit. We'll see that it pays to serve God!
Only believe, and seek it by faith. Luke 11:10, "For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." Confess your sins for cleansing. Believe that God is faithful.
Thirdly, God says, "What I say will happen." It must be God's word! False promises are ruinous. So many live in despair: They've been promised a house, car, and husband, and their marriage is miserable. They've been promised the world, but they don't have it, and they're unsatisfied. Misunderstanding scripture leaves us heartbroken and bitter! We think he failed us, or we don't have enough faith. False teachers have turned the spiritual into the physical, and we are empty. We've tried to get the JOY OF SERVICE by serving ourselves, and living for our own glory. It will not work. We've sought contentment in the world, and blamed Christ!
Dear saints, this is not the way. God gives us good on his terms, according to the word. He gives and blesses by the gospel rightly understood, dividing the truth properly. He gives spiritual blessings, and bread that satisfies, but it's a crucified Christ, and living for his glory!
Finally, let's be content with God's word. He'll surely accomplish it!
