For and towards the Elect, Satan will come at you so furiously, that even your own sanity will be tested.

But be of good cheer: this is evidence of your calling, and election; for why would he dispatch legions of devils at you if you were his?

This is why we feel like wretches, and are miserable all the time. We judge ourselves most harshly over our own sins. We feel unworthy. Our joy in Jesus seems fleeting.

This also, is evidence of our salvation.

We can almost sense the temptation coming from a mile away as it seeks to hammer us. So sensitive to whether we're offending God and bring shame on Christ, or not.

Yet, more evidence.

So be at peace, my friends. Keep plowing in hope and faith; for this is but a short time when compared with eternity.
