Constancy in Preaching

Charles Spurgeon said, “I am today what I was when, as a young man, I preached to crowds in this hall. I have progressed in my theology NOT SO MUCH AS THE TITHE OF AN INCH! That which I preached 33 years ago I preach today.” And he died seven years later preaching the same message of God’s sovereign grace and glory in Christ Jesus.

Without boasting, except in the mercy and grace of God, I can say the same thing! God revealed THE GOSPEL to me 39 years ago, and my message and methods have not changed since that day. Nor is there any reason to change. A man who changes his message either WAS NOT preaching the truth then or he IS NOT NOW.

I do not believe that any person or power can persuade a TRUE SERVANT of the Lord Jesus to alter, trim, soft-pedal, or refuse to preach what he knows to be the word of the Lord. The only fear God’s preacher knows is THE FEAR OF THE LORD!

THE FOUNDATION OF GOD STANDS SURE

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity” (2Tim.2:19).

What great encouragement this promise is to every sinner who finds the only hope of salvation upon this firm and immoveable foundation. Make no mistake, this unshakeable foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (Isa. 28:16; 1Cor. 3:11). The Lord pronounced unto Peter, “Upon this Rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18).

Notwithstanding all the attacks of the enemies against believers, in spite of all the doctrine of false preachers (2Tim. 2:17-18), regardless of all the doubts and fears in the believers own heart (2Tim. 2:13), this foundation of salvation is certain and sure because it is all based upon Christ Himself, His magnificent person (1Tim. 3:16), His perfect-priestly work (Heb. 4:14-15), and the glorious atonement for the sin of His people (Heb. 2:17; 9:26). He cannot fail (Isa. 42:4)! “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure.”

Oh, what completeness of eternal salvation (Col. 2:9-10) and eternal security we have in Christ alone (John 10:27-30; 1Peter 1:3-5). If this foundation could be removed, what could we do? However, it stands firm, unchanging and sure as the very throne of God upon which the Lord Jesus Christ is enthroned in total victory over all the opposition (Psa. 110:1; Heb. 1:3; 8:1). We know it to be eternally true (Rom. 3:4; 2Peter 1:19-21), rejoice in it as our only hope of all salvation (Phil. 3:3; 2Thes. 2:16) and proclaim it as God’s truth to all that will hear (Mark 16:15; 2Tim. 4:1-2). “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11).

There is not, and never will be in Hell, a single person who can say that he sought the Lord through Christ and could not find Him. Those who never find mercy in Christ never seek it. This seeker is always a finder. Pastor Milton Howard

The Key To Success

I was speaking to a young man the other day, and I told him that I could tell him the key to success, and that it works 100% of the time. Now someone may ask; “Can there be such a thing that works 100% of the time, no matter what the economy is doing?” Yes! And it is this, Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

God is good for His word 100% of the time.

THE BODY OF CHRIST
“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular”

(1 Cor. 12:27).

All of God's elect make up the body of Christ, they are His church (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 1:3-6). All who Christ Jesus redeemed with His precious blood, make up the body of Christ (Acts 20:28; 1Peter 1:18; Rev. 5:9-12). All who are regenerated by the power of God the Holy Spirit, make up the body of Christ (1Cor. 12:13; Eph. 2:1-4; 1Peter 1:23). All who are brought to believe the true gospel by His grace (Eph. 1:19), make up the body of Christ (John 5:24; Gal. 3:26).

Therefore, any earthly organization or religious cult that sets itself up as the "Body of Christ" proclaiming they have authority to put sinners into Christ or remove them at their own discretion, preference and stating they have power to wash away sin, is truly an abomination to Almighty God, a complete discredit and denial to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and totally contrary to the whole testimony of God.
