"Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses." vs3
First, the promises of God are good. Everything that He's promised us, even eternal life, will come to pass. There's no possibility of failure, because God's promise DOES NOT depend upon the righteousness or power of man. It's received by faith, made to those who have faith, and it is sure.
Abraham believed, it happened, and so it will be with you. Romans 4:21-22, "because he was fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. Therefore, it was credited to him for righteousness." There's no other alternative. Faith will be blessed. According to your faith, the riches of the promise will be given to you. He has a bounty, and we get it all by faith in Christ.
Secondly, the promise is given to the obedient. Vs8
"Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go."
Faith is obedience, and it causes us to walk with God. It brings us to him in humility and submission to his word. It is the way that God hears us, and it receives the promise by walking with God on his terms. Oh, the blessings of obedience are rich, and they cause us to do what God says to get the benefits, even the joy and peace of believing that's supernatural [Rom 15:13].
Sinner, turn from your sins and walk with God. Give up the sneaky life. Walk in humility, and he'll exalt you. Walk in the fear of the Lord.
Thirdly, we will help our brothers. Vs14
"Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle shall remain in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but you shall cross before your brothers in battle array, all your valiant warriors, and shall help them, until the Lord gives your brothers rest, as He gives you, and they also possess the land which the Lord your God is giving them." vs14-15
Christianity is not a solo sport. We war to labor and help others, for Christ's sake. We do them good, and give them the gospel. We are about the church, not just ourselves. We need this obedience to increase our joy. The Holy Spirit comes as we serve others. Do well, and you'll see God serving you.
In Acts, they had EVERYTHING IN COMMON. They were not individualistic but united, working as one. This is what we must have for God's fullness - praying in unity, gathering in unity, and caring for each other as one body with many members. Let God's grace rule us in loving the saints, and we're maximizing our own lives. Remember the joy you get from Spirit filled service.
Finally, there's only one response to the gospel of God's glory: immediate obedience. We'll do all! Vs16
They answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go." vs16
There's no wavering in this matter and no power of "No." We yield immediate obedience, and confess that we'll do all. There's no holding back and no partial acceptance of truth. We submit to all God says and confess Him Lord. We trust in Him absolutely as Savior with power to give us obedience!
This is a glorious life, full of grace and strength. The joy of the Lord is rich here. Let's go. Let's give our all to this. Let's hold back nothing. Fully trust Him, now. Immediately enter a better life. Immediately turn from sin and be healed. Immediately, start your walk closer and closer with God. Oh, how I plead with you to enter the joy!
