For a number of years I narrated audiobooks and kept them on a web page called Puritan Audio Books. Though I was able to find partners that uploaded some of my narrations to Sermon Audio and YouTube, I never had my own Sermon Audio site. The site was a result of a church that folded during the Covid Crisis. We never could recover. But they were hosting my narrations and I asked if I could take over the site and find someone to fund it. God has graciously answered those prayers for now. There is another Sermon Audio site using the name of Puritan Audiobooks and to distance myself from them, I came up with The Narrated Puritan. I am not fond of the name because I have no desire that anyone would think I was calling myself a Puritan. Further, there are a lot more than Puritan narrations on the site. But I needed to keep it short, and now that I do a podcast for Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary, the name has kind of stuck.
I have never created that perfect narration that I am totally satisfied with. In a recent interview on the Bud Zone, I was interviewed using my present microphone, which is a good mic. But as I listened to the recording coming from Bud's side, it was obvious that he had a better setup. What I was missing was a pre-amp and a microphone bundle. Today that bundle is arriving and I hope the recordings here will even be better. As I listen to Max Mclean, I am convinced that audio books should be delivered that well.
I don't give the listeners many updates here. The reason for this is the other narrators come across as having an ax to grind and the last thing we need to communicate is our self promotion instead of giving you the best of reformed pastors and writers of the past.
It would be nice to hear from the listeners from time to time. In August this site was accessed 29,300 times from 110 countries but I hear very seldom from anybody who has benefitted from it. However since I need these recordings for my own edification I keep pressing on.
