“And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.”

Israel had been delivered from Egypt, from the yoke and bondage of sin and yet they were still in enemy territory! If we too, like Israel, have been delivered from bondage and separated unto God, we can also expect to be attacked by the enemy while still in this world (John15:20 “If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you”). The ones that fall behind, the weak and feeble are sure to suffer first. Christians who live on the border of sin suffer much. We must be aware of the spirit of the Amalekites of our day. They are the sworn enemies of the Spirit of Christ. The Amalekites were ultimately destroyed with the edge of the sword. The only way we overcome our sin and the enemies of the world, the flesh and the devil is by the Sword of The Lord! The Word of God!
