Yet again, a 70 year old rejects the Gospel on the Gospel's terms.

The oldest, have the hardest of hearts when it comes to being taught the terms of salvation.

They just won't accept that it is God who does the choosing. It is God the Son, who is the propitiation for the dead sinner.

It is God the Holy Spirit, who does the regenerating; the training, the feeding, etc.

There's no active participation from man in any of this.

And worst of all? This is the real kicker in all of it...

My age.

Older professors just won't accept that a younger guy is the one telling them that they're wrong.

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself had the same issue with the Pharisees and Saducees.

This particular man had no answer except to point to the thief on the Cross as his reasoning and trust. A man who was the only one in recorded Scripture who gained eternity at the 11th hour.

Oh beloved; I hope you're not like this poor man who rejected the Gospel.
