I'm at that point in life I can use phrases like, "When I was a little girl..." or "I remember when we could..." Times change and if you watch the news you are acutely aware times are changing. Oh I can sit and stew about the foolishness that seems to now saturate our culture but what good would that do. Sadly, so many face the future with fear and anxiety. For those who know Jesus Christ as their Savior, we do not need to face the unknown with an anxious spirit. A few weeks ago I had the blessing of sitting with someone who was very close to death. Now you may say, "Blessing?" I sat beside them, and we both knew they were not ever going to get out of the bed. Death was coming. The greatest comfort I could give was to read the Bible to them. Instead of complaining of the pain, they repeatedly told me how good God was to them and how loving their spouse had been to them. The world would look at this person and ask how they could be so positive under such circumstances. How? They knew death was coming but more importantly - so was Heaven! I left that day knowing I would never see them again on this earth but one day we will meet again. How can I fear when my God is so near? Watch the news through the lense of what Scripture says must be before the Lord's return. Are you fearful? Is your spirit troubled? Imagine Noah. Noah knew death was coming and he proclaimed it. Yet, everyone except his family doubted him until the rain drops starting falling. Instead of fear; rejoice that God is sovereign. Pastor Chris has been preaching a series (10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24) on Sunday mornings about the life of Noah. I believe they would be a real encouragement to you. Psalm 116:5, "Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful."
