“For thus the Lord has said to me: ‘Within a year, according to the year of a hired man, all the glory of Kedar will fail; and the remainder of the number of archers, the mighty men of the people of Kedar, will be diminished; for the Lord God of Israel has spoken it.”
When God speaks, it is exact, direct, and it comes to pass. There’s no ambiguity, no decreeing and it fails. He does not say that “something” will happen and refuses to get specific. He promises judgement to those outside of Christ and mercy to those in Christ. He decrees and declares that He’s set His Son upon the holy hill, and there is nothing that man can do about it. Put your trust in the God of the word. He raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, and He’ll fulfill all His word and do His pleasure [Isa 46:10]
Trust Him for the forgiveness of sins! He says whosoever believes will be saved. He imputes righteousness, which is FULL pardon and acceptance before God. “Just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works [Rom 4:6.]” Trust Him for power over sin, which is glorifying God by being like Christ from the heart. Trust Him in the way that you shall go. Trust Him to bring His judgment to pass in due time. He said, “Within a year, according to the year of a hired man.” We’re in safe hands trusting God through Christ.
Contrarily, unbelief is the worst thing imaginable, because God is coming for you. "All the glory of Kedar will fail." We can play games and fool ourselves, but we cannot fool the Master. The day of Judgment is coming, His wrath will be poured out, and He will punish His foes.
Trust Him, when you’ve been humbled and diminished. "The remainder of the number of archers, the mighty men of the people of Kedar, will be diminished." They are diminished but not destroyed, and He’s a Friend to the broken-hearted sinner. There’s no need for hypocrisy. He will pour out His love upon the weak sinner who can do nothing but look to Christ.
Brothers, God’s word is certain! He gives the exact time that His exact punishment will be fulfilled. He also gives the time of His mercies, which is when we look to Christ.
