Taking Dominion Through Wisdom - Day 82

The Path of the Upright - Proverbs 4:12

One of the key themes that Solomon will rehearse in the book of Proverbs is - each individual has two paths to choose between. This theme is found all throughout the Bible. There are two roads - the road to life and the road to destruction. The idea of pathway, road, a way of life, etc...refers to how we live and conduct our lives. The upright choose a course of life that avoids evil. The book of Proverbs exhorts us to take a look at the kind of life we are living (i.e. what kind of path we are on). The upright, for example, consider their actions and the consequences of those actions.

The foolish, however, live as though they do not have a moral obligation. In other words, the foolish do not live as though their life is going to a destination - a Christ-less destination. Most people live in a way that gives them the most satisfaction and pleasure for the moment. Therefore, day after day, they live for self with no regard for their neighbor or Creator. And that path, according to the testimony of Scripture, has a destructive consequence.

In our journey through the Book of Proverbs, we will see that Wisdom will encourage us to stay on the pathway of righteousness. The pathway of the foolish is a crooked path, a contradictory path that meanders back and forth leading to destruction; but the Bible teaches us that there is a road that leads to life. The road that leads to life is straight and narrow. Jesus taught us - I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through Me. Jesus teaches us how to come to the Father while wisdom teaches how to walk in a way that pleases the Father. Choose the path of the upright
