Faith

It is a blessing to experience those times when all seems well and faith comes easily, when it seems the very air is filled with the presence of the Lord. Such times are a blessing, but they are no proof of true faith. Faith is proven when it endures the HARD times. When the heart is broken, the mind confused, and the body weak, then is faith put to the test and proven whether it be genuine. When faith survives those times when there is NO FEELING to verify it, NO EVIDENCE to confirm it, and NO FLESHLY ENERGY to sustain it, then and only then can we discover that we have that faith that is "the gift of God." God's gifts are "without repentance," and this is as true of faith as any of His other gifts. We know we have believed when we never repent of our faith, but believe in the very face of all that is opposed to faith. This is the trial and proof of faith.

The measure of knowledge and understanding of the things of God that I needed to be saved will be revealed in the hour that I close my eyes in death. Whatever of God's truth He taught me and gave me understanding of up till that hour was exactly what I needed, no more and no less. Whatever He reveals to me today is no less necessary for my soul's welfare than was the very first things. You see, it's not really how much it takes to save me that is important. It's how much He determines is necessary to distinguish Him and glorify Him in my heart, mind and life here on this earth!

Isaiah 32:2 And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

In this life we have winds, whose direction is uncertain, shaking everything, creating unrest and distraction. A lot of times no definite cause can be assigned for them; the cause may be physical, or circumstantial.

We can have overwhelming tempests of spiritual distress on account of sin, we can have unbelief, or temptations which cause us distress. In the scripture we are told to fear not to trust in the LORD, beloved we need a hiding place, a refugee a high tower!

We can be tossed about in the storms of life by attacks from those around us, our brother David knew what that was like but the refugee of his soul was the Lord Jesus Christ!

Christ alone is the believer's hiding place!
