Do you trust God? Before you answer the question, read our text again. According to Dr. Solomon, wisdom is in a category all to herself. Wisdom is so unique, so invaluable, so surpassing in value that you cannot find anything comparable to her. Solomon is emphasizing the greatness of wisdom. Wisdom is so great that nothing else comes close to the wealth she provides.
It is at this point we need to check our spiritual maturity. Is this how you view wisdom? Do you put such a premium on wisdom that you are willing to forsake all worldly pursuits to gain her? Do you have God's view of wisdom? We need to understand that the world does not put a premium on godly wisdom; therefore, we cannot look to the world for guidance on achieving wisdom. Only God's Word can teach us about gaining wisdom. Don't allow the world to rob you of the riches of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3). Dr. Solomon understood the value of wisdom. Solomon chose wisdom over all the other earthly treasures.
So, let me ask the question again - do you trust God? Your heavenly Father would never lead you astray. Rather He has preserved this Proverb for us in order that we might put the same premium on wisdom.
