Solomon explains another benefit of walking in godly wisdom. We know that fearing the Lord and applying wisdom pleases God. Additionally, God grants us strength when we submit to the principles of wisdom. The scriptures consistently teach that the blessings of long life (Proverbs 3:2) and strength (Proverbs 3:8) are tied to honoring God and fleeing evil. Modern science is slowly catching up with Solomon. For example, modern science is encouraging us to manage our stress due to the impacts on our physical health. The book of Proverbs made this connection thousands of years ago. But if we refuse to put into practice the principles of wisdom, then we should not expect these blessings.
This is a great time pause and consider whether we desire the blessings of wisdom. Let's summarize: if we desire to have favor with God and man, then we must learn to speak the truth with tenderness. If we desire to have long life with strength, then trust the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our understanding. And finally, to prosper under God's blessings upon this earth, we must flee evil. May God grant us the grace to mature in wisdom.
