“One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” vs6
God the Father works through all of us to glorify Christ; it is the same unique Spirit in every believer, so that we are one.
We enjoy this oneness, however, only by maintaining peace with each other [vs3]. We can’t let divisions - politics, ethnicity, and things of this world - distract us from Christ and unifiedly proclaiming Him. We can’t put our personal agendas or personalities in the forefront, but we must give way to exalt Christ and no one else.
This is the mission of the church, and we must do it [Matt 5:13]. He has unified us around the gospel message, where there is, “one Lord, one faith, and one baptism [vs5].” God’s given us one way to be saved by the finished work of Christ, and we are agreed on election, predestination, justification by faith, and holiness. We are under the sway of the King as God our Father.
Having this unity, we can spread the gospel and give Him glory. We can LOVE ONE ANOTHER and show that we are the church - God’s people from every nation, family, and political opinion [John 13:35]. Maintain this unity and fight for it.
Peace doesn’t mean we don’t rebuke! We teach from God’s word continually. It means we lovingly point people to Christ.
