I Chronicles 29:11-13 "Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name."
I was out this morning before the sun came up doing my chores. The moon was bright. I could hear the machinery at the farm just over the hill. I fed my chickens. It felt like a perfect fall morning; all was well in my world. As I hung out my laundry, I looked at the stars and prayed that God would give me something for this blog. In my own little world with the sounds of the night giving way to the morning, the stars still twinkling stars that the Bible says God holds in place, I thought of the chaos that our society has chosen. My God is in control!
We are blessed to have my Mom live with us. It takes her a bit longer to get up but her morning routine is to eat breakfast and watch the news. The sun is up and the stars are no longer visible. If I believed everything that I saw on television I would think chaos reigns and the stars no longer twinkle. Truth? My God still remains in control.
If your hope is in the outcome of the Presidential election, you will be sadly disappointed. God tells us in His Word He will heal our land when His people (believers) get right with Him. If you live in fear of the virus and the chaos in the streets. God tells us in Psalm 42:11 "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."
Proverbs 16:32 "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city?"
God is telling us in this verse that it is up to me to control my spirit. I can give my circumstance over to the Lord or I can choose to react to it on my own. Let me just say when I deal with things on my own they don't normally go well.
I want to encourage you to get in to a Bible believing, Bible preaching church. Have your own daily time with God. There is a hymn that goes ... "Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey...."
