ARE YOU DENYING OR CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH OF OUR FATHERS?
âBeloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.â This text is taken from the Epistle of Jude verse three. In the second Epistle of Peter God warns of the sure presence of false prophets among the people of God in the latter days, and of their corrupting the true doctrine of the Church, âThere shall be false teachers among you, who privily (secretly) shall bring damnable heresies.â Dear Christian Fathers, there are truths that need to be taught and believed in our homes today. They are essential to the salvation of your family, and if not heartily accepted the soul will be eternally ruined. In a day in which it is popular to believe everything and stand for nothing it is very difficult to get a hearing for truth, but truth must be heard. In the New Testament Church when a man fell away from the assembly of believers all diligence was exercised to restore him to the faith of the church. If measures were unsuccessful that person was considered an apostate. In this day our âneologiesâ (new theologians) are so broad-minded and charitable they conclude that âwe must leave the brother to his own opinion; he sees âtruthâ from a different point of view and has a different way of putting it, but his opinions are as good as ours, and we must not say that he is in error.â Teach your children that opinions are like noses, everyone has one; but truth is TRUTH, invariable and very precise. In the early church when a person erred from the truth and was not converted they viewed him as a man who would suffer the death of the soul. James 5:19-20 (Amplified} says, âMy brethren, if any one among you strays from the Truth and falls into error, and another person brings him back to God, let the latter one be sure that whoever turns a sinner from his evil course will save that oneâs soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins (that is procure the pardon of the many sins committed by the convert).â Early believers were not as easy-going as our cultured âfriendsâ of the school of âmodern thought.â They have become wiser and more learned than God and say that the deity of Christ may be denied, the work of the Holy Spirit ignored, the inspiration of scripture rejected, the blood atonement of Christ disbelieved, and regeneration dispensed with. Yet they say the person who practices such may be as âgood a Christianâ as the most devout believer! May God deliver us from such deceitful infidelity! TRUTH is important and falsehood must not be trifled with. Oh that God would call men/dads who are loyal to God and truth. We desperately need a reformation of true religion of the magnitude of the 16th century reformation. No, we need a reformation that goes beyond the reformation of Luther, Calvin and other good men. Their reformation was only partial. Pray for a thorough purging of the visible Kingdom of God on earth. You who truly believe the doctrine of the Holy Scriptures pray with great fervency that the Lord will raise up loyal subjects to King Jesus. Maybe right here out of our midst.
