And with unfaltering lip and heart, I call the Saviour mine;
His cross dispels each doubt, I bury in His tomb,
Each thought of unbelief and fear,
Each lingering shade of gloom.
I praise the God of peace, I trust His truth and might,
He calls me His, I call Him mine, my God, my Joy, my Light;
In Him is only good, in me is only ill,
My ill but draws His goodness forth,
And me He loveth still.
‘Tis He Who saveth me, and freely pardon gives,
I love because He loveth me, I live because He lives;
My life with Him is hid, my death has passed away,
My clouds have melted into light,
My midnight into day.

GOOD TIDINGS
The word “gospel,” literally translated, means “good tidings.” As God’s ambassadors we have the privilege to tell sinners who are trying their best to maintain salvation by their religious efforts that Christ did ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING NECESSARY to obtain the salvation of ALL of God’s elect. Christ fulfilled every legal requirement of God’s law and justice for His people, and He actually justified them at Calvary when He cried, “IT IS FINISHED!” “Being (literally, “having been”) justified freely (without any cause on our part) by His grace through the redemption (release obtained by payment of the ransom price) that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24) – This is good news to a sinner! Christ said, “Come unto ME, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Now, I have that “peace that passeth all understanding,” and now I know I am as sure of heaven as if I am already there, because of HIM who is ALL my salvation (1 John 5:12-13). – Pastor Richard Warmack

Cling to the cross — though your sins rise up before you like mountains for their size; like the sands on the sea shore for their number; and glowing like scarlet and crimson, in color! For no sins, however great, or however numerous, should tempt us to despond, or to let go of our hold on the cross seeing the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from ALL sin.
– James Smith

He is a growing Christian, to whom Christ is more and more precious. As our estimate of Christ rises, our estimate of ourselves necessarily becomes lower. To believers, Christ is everything. He is all their salvation. If we are guilty, He has atoned. If we are vile, He is worthy. If we are nothing, He is all in all. To be in Christ is heaven begun! To be with Christ and like Christ is heaven completed! —William S. Plumer
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Our confidence of faith which is “the evidence of things not seen” is NOT simply because we believe. It is that we believe WHAT GOD SAYS IN HIS WORD. Faith is the gift of God (Eph. 2:8-9), and it comes to us in the power of the Holy Spirit by hearing the Word of God (Rom. 10:17). Multitudes of people believe things that simply are not true. Those who believe that salvation in any way, to any degree, at any stage is by the works of sinners or conditioned on sinners truly believe they either are or will be saved, but it is not true. Their faith has not substance in reality only evidences that they are still lost. They do not know the way. Those who have faith that they can establish their own righteousness before God have no hope of salvation, “for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth” (Rom. 10:4). “To every one that believeth” what? That Christ is the only way of salvation; that His blood alone cleanses us from ALL sin; that His righteousness imputed alone justifies us before God; that He alone gives life to dead sinners by the Holy Spirtit; and that He alone is able to save us completely and bring us to glory by His grace and power. This is God’s Word, and God’s Word is the foundation of true God-given faith. God’s Word always points us to the Lord Jesus Christ for all salvation, forgiveness, righteousness, spiritual and eternal life, and glory. —Pastor Bill Parker

WORDS FOR THE AFFLICTED
(The author of the great hymn, Amazing Grace, wrote the following in a letter to a friend who had been sick a long time.)
I trust you will find the name and grace of Jesus more and more precious to you, His promises more sweet and your hope in them more abiding; your sense of your own weakness and unworthiness daily increasing; your persuasion of His all-sufficiency to guide, support and comfort you more confirmed. You owe your growth in these respects, in a great measure, to His blessing upon those afflictions which He has prepared for you and sanctified to you. May you praise Him for all that is past and trust Him for all that is to come.
