Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18
The Precious Word
There’s nothing more precious to a believer than the Word of God in times of joy, in times of sorrow, in times of sickness, in times of health, in times of success or in times of failure; it’s His Word.
His Word teaches us. His Word rebukes us. His Word convicts us. His Word corrects us. His Word comforts us. His Word inspires us. His Word encourages us. His Word gives faith, gives hope, and gives love, His Word. We live on His Word. How can you be without it? Pastor Henry T. Mahan
LIFELOCK
“At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father,
and ye in me, and I in you.” John 14:20
Recently I received an advertisement from a company called “LifeLock.” It is a company that provides security against “identity theft.” Identity theft has undoubtedly become a real issue and problem in today’s world. Crooks and thieves steal your identity and run up debt in your name. As I read over that advertisement, I was thinking how the Lord Jesus did that to His people in reverse. Without their permission, He assumed the believer’s identity. He stepped into their personal business, the business between them and God and He took their place. (1 Timothy 2:5) He took control of their account and made it His own. He didn’t take control of their identity to add debt like a thief does. NO! He took control of the believer’s account in order to pay the debt of sin that they had accumulated. He took my debt and paid it in full as a rich friend might do. Oh what a rich friend Christ is. He is rich in love, mercy, grace and forgiveness. How many friends do you have that would die to pay the debt you owe? Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. Now, I have His perfect identity, and I am eternally life-locked to Him. Pastor David L. Eddmenson
His decree, who formed the earth, Fixed my first and second birth; Parents, native land, and time All were appointed by Him.
Plaques and death around me fly;
'Til He bids I cannot die;
Not a single shaft can hit
'Til my Sovereign Lord sees fit.

DAVID'S SEVEN-FOLD CURE FOR FRETTING - Psalm 37
1. TRUST IN THE LORD (Psa. 37:3). Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will cure fretting! When we trust Him to provide all our physical and spiritual needs (Matt. 6:33; Phil. 4:19), we find comfort. We don't look to the deeds nor strength of the flesh to find our comfort, but to Him alone (Psa. 62:8).
2. DELIGHT THYSELF ALSO IN THE LORD (Psa. 37:4). Rejoicing in the Lord is a sure cure for fretting (Phil. 3:3). When we are taken up with the glory of His person, the power of His atonement, the freeness of His grace, and the sureness of His mercy, it leaves no room for fretting (Col. 2:9-10).
3. COMMIT THY WAY UNTO THE LORD (Psa. 37:5). The marginal reading is, "Roll the whole burden of life upon Him." "Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you" (I Pet. 1:5). When we realize that our heavenly Father does all things well, surely we can commit our way to His wise providence and stop our fretting (Rom. 8:28).
4. REST IN THE LORD (Psa. 37:7). Our Lord Jesus Christ, having accomplished salvation for His elect, entered into His rest (Heb. 1:3). Let us learn by His grace to cease from going about to establish a righteousness (Rom.10:4) and make haste to enter into Him by faith and rest (Heb. 4:10).
5. CEASE FROM ANGER (Psa. 37:8). When we try to take matters into our own hands, we are bound to create a sure mess of things. Remember that the wrath of man will never work the righteousness of God (James 1:18). God will take care of the sheep and subdue all our enemies under our feet (Col. 2:14).
6. DEPART FROM EVIL (Psa. 37:27). We are exhorted in the scripture to put off the old man with his deeds (Co1.3:8-15). By God's grace and power He does restrain the believer from living for self and to strive to live for the glory of God (Jer. 9:23-24).
7. WAIT ON THE LORD (Psa. 37:34). We wait with great expectations on the certainties of His promises (II Pet. 1:4). God's purpose of grace and mercy cannot fail (Isa. 42:1; Psa. 27:14). His blessings are worth waiting for (Prov. 3:6-7).
