I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. (John 10:11, 15) Well known words of the Savior, our Lord Shepherd Jesus.
Little known truth, though, and much less appreciated when it is known.
The good shepherd lays down His life for sheep who have gone astray. They are sinners.
He lays down His life for those already dead in their sins, in Adam.
He lays down His life that they may have life from that death.
That is the “more abundant” life (John 10:10) of life with Him, holy life, happy life, purposeful life, full of His fullness (John 1:16), grace life, fruitful life, life life, forever life…
We have this life. For His death, for us, we trust, is the death of our death, Calvary’s tree
ground zero, infinite ground even with the thrice holy God, for the justification of the unjust
So, beloved, we live! And it is time to live like we live.
It is time to live our lives truly up, gloriously.
Time to live our lives out of Him.
Time to live in Him.
Time to live unto Him.
Our life, nothing without Him.
Our life, everything in His fellowship, known by Him with Divine Love’s knowledge (John 10:14).
Good shepherd, our Jesus. Know this. Live.
For such a time as this.
