Worthy is the Lamb that was slain…(Revelation 5: 12a)

We sing of that suffering One, of course, because His suffering and death were for our salvation.

Of this do we sing, leaning out the windows, gathering on the internet

Sopranos, altos, tenors, basses, sinners all, now believing, now healed, in sweet harmony

Singing with grace in our hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:16).

More. There is more to our song. For the suffering and death of Christ for our salvation is glory for that suffering Lamb, Jesus. For

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing! (Revelation 5: 12b)

His glory is our happiest melody.

So sing. Sometimes softly. Other loud. Sometimes up. Other down. Sometimes in a major key. Other in a minor. For that’s how the music goes in this life.

Only follow the lead of the conducting Spirit, Who is also the composer, and the first singer of the Son’s praise.

His lead is to and from the Word of Christ, Holy Scripture.

Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly…singing…(Colossians 3:16).

Sing, and sing it out. For this world needs to hear.

Singing in the rain and even in a pandemic, is indeed a great show of human spirit.

But Imagine is wicked. A catchy tune of insects and hell and of antichristian disharmonies.

And national anthems sung from upper windows of quarantined homes are hardly enough.

And chanting “Everything will be alright” gets communities by only until it is seen that everything is not going to be alright.

Sing the Lamb’s song. Show the Lamb’s hope. Live the Lamb’s life.

For such a time as this.
