This word of God speaks to our comfort in whirling, swirling times. We are on the Rock—the sure, immovable foundation of life, and a house with God. Our foundation is the Savior Jesus, crucified for our sin, and raised for our justification, and the apostolic truth, fully revealed in the infallible Word of God (Ephesians 2:20). This is sealed to us, personally, by the Holy Spirit of Christ and of truth.

Nothing, therefore, to fear!

This word of God also speaks to our separation. We are God’s, and holy, saints and new creatures in Christ. We are called, therefore, to depart from iniquity.

When governmental powers that be and health officials urge us to practice “social distancing” and “self-isolation,” and when some especially in urban centers are commanded to “shelter in place,” let us remember this: to keep ourselves from every virus from hell.

Distant from sin. Self-isolating from the lusts of the flesh and of the eyes and the pride of life. Sheltered in communion with the holy God.

We and our families, and the Church of the Savior.

For the name of Christ.

That we might know, by a holy faith, the God Who knows us.

For such a time as this.
