O you who love the LORD, hate evil!
He preserves the souls of His saints;
He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Light shines on the righteous,
gladness on the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous ones,
and praise His holy name.
You have every reason to praise God, if you are righteous. I’ve seen God’s people content amid the coronavirus, and we have reason to be. We care about our neighbors, families, and incomes; we care about the world, but we don’t sorrow as those who are hopeless.
Our sins are forgiven, and we use this to get the gospel out - this time when man will listen, when he’s forced to acknowledge his humanity. I know many struggle to close their ears, but there are some, in God’s mercy, who must hear the truth about who they are, who He is, and what does it mean for God to be in charge? What does it mean for us to be responsible to Him? There is a salvation we must proclaim in these hard times. This is our time - Christians - to preach the gospel, so people can be comforted, instructed, and warned.
You know the Sovereign is working all for your good, because you are righteous. You don’t fear the Judgment, and death has lost its sting. You are safe in the arms of Him who does wisely.
What about jobs? Health? These things are important, and we don’t have the answers, but Corrie Ten Boom is right,when she says, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” We must rely on what we know about Him:
-
“He preserves the soul of His saints; He delivers from the wicked.”
-
“Light shines on the righteous.” We know that He loves us, the End is coming, and we are safe. We are like Noah, already in the ark while awaiting the Flood.
-
“You righteous ones.” We are righteous by faith in Christ, and we have good works by the Spirit.
